8a.m Day begins! Off to check my emails and meeting schedules for today.8.30.a.m Time to do my wards rounds. Need to see if the clinical practices in each ward and patient are working out just fine. If not, adjustments should be made.10a.m Oh, there are new nurses in the house. Some student nurses too. These young ones would need some supervision and my assistance.11.30a.m Interesting day. I’ve just met quite a mix of new patients – from infectious disease patients, dermatology and even quite old, geriatric but still wonderfully, sprightly patients, I might say.12p.m Rounds are all done. Also had some case discussions with nurses, it’s a good brainstorming exercise. Nice to hear inputs on how to handle some patient’s cases.1p.m Having a meeting with some of the doctors and head nurses. We’re preparing plans for in-service talks.3p.m Meeting was very productive, lots of tasks done. Now off I go for some bedside clinical teaching and supervision.4.30p.m Time to reflect for a few moments about the day. I think I can still pursue to become an Advanced Practice Nurse. Hmmm... should be easy because, even now, I’m already playing a resource person role for my medical and nursing team.5p.m Off from work and on to the gym for a good work out! |
