Advanced Practice Nurses(APN) provide direct care to patients and perform some specialised procedures in their area of practice.

RNs in the Clinical track can go on to become APN by undertaking a Masters in Nursing. APNs practice in collaboration and partnership with medical practitioners and other health care professionals to:

  1. diagnose, treat and manage acute and/or chronic illnesses;
  2. initiate and implement changes in the health care service in response to patient needs and service demands;
  3. participate in education of nursing staff and health care professionals; and
  4. initiate and coordinate nursing research.
